My days of Christmas.....

Image
On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me - One BIG ice storm, FOUR rescue dogs, and a SQUIRREL in a Bradford pear tree..... Last winter a massive ice storm hit Oklahoma. Norman, where I live was one of the harder hit areas. My huge, beautiful, Bradford pear tree suffered a great deal of damage, thus was cut into an ugly glorified stump. Apparently that makes Mr. Squirrel feel unsafe now when the dogs are about, even though it is tall enough for him to be quite secure. The other morning, while out doing chores, I looked up in time to see four of my dogs surrounding said tree, and there was Mr. Squirrel, trapped in said tree, frantically looking for escape. I watched in horror, eyes wide, shaking my head from side to side, as he scaled right down the north side of the tree trunk, and I uttered ssssqui-RREL !! SQUIRREL !! Yes, in times of crisis, do call on me, as I will stand frozen and repeat the description of the animal in peril. He made a mad dash at the exact moment th...

It's a dogs life

Trouble wrapped in an adorable package is still trouble. Please see "Tessa" in the dictionary, under "folly." She believes the world is her oyster, and she does make me say - "OY" alot. In her mind it all makes perfect sense - If you don't want it shredded, put it away. If you don't want holes in the yard, make the ground "undig -able." Oh, I thought it was a game, you plant it, I dig it back up. If you don't want me to go over there, you will have to watch me every minute, as my secret identity is " Houdini," master of escape. I like to smile at you, and make my blue eye twinkle when you scold me, as I can tell you aren't really mad. Aren't you having fun? I know I am. Rules ? What rules ? I don't remember any rules. What would we need them for? And if you have ever wondered why you never see collars on my dogs, it is because Hannah uses them to drag everyone else around. That would be in between my throwing her...

An introduction to my dogs

Image
"Luna" aka " Sweetie" & "Beauty Girl" My mom is the most important thing to me. I often wonder why she has those others here. I don't like dogs, they are so beneath me. I am very, very intelligent, but have no street smarts at all. I am a sweet, loyal gentle girl.
Image
"Rascal" I come by my name honestly, and have alot of street smarts, which helped me survive, until I got to my home here. I am very loyal, and wish mom would carry me around with her like a baby all day.
Image
"Pie" aka " Pie Wacky" & "Weather Dog" I can detect storms in the next county. I am a cranky dog, and now that I'm sixteen I'm even crankier. I have truly earned the name "Pie Wacky" but I am very sweet and mom also calls me "Sweetie Pie."
Image
" 2-Bit" aka"Bitsy" I was dumped as a puppy with demodetic mange. I was a mess. With good care I recovered and am very happy and healthy. I love to chase ANYTHING, butterflies, wasps - if it moves, I'm on it ! I like to strut around when I have done something I think is cool. I would hunt bear, but there aren't any in these parts. I am too big for my britches, whatever that means.

" Tessa Rio" aka "Tessa." I am seven months old now, part border collie {?} with one brown eye one blue. I love the other dogs, even though they don't all love me. I adore "Bitsy" and we play alot. I LOVE the water and drink out of the hose, even though it splashes the other dogs. Mom says that I am a trial, penance for something she has done wrong. She says it is a good thing I am so adorable, even so, my other name is "Trouble" with a capital T.

For Hannah's story, click on "Hannah" under the Review list. "Hannah Bear" aka "Sweet Pea." I love to chase balls & nap on mom's bed. I don't trust anyone else but her. I am very sweet but if one of the others wants to start something I will finish it. I lived on the streets for a little while and have some street smarts. Mom calls me "clever girl."

Happy Tails to you.....

Here is a photo of my herd. Minus one chow mix named Pie. She is the old girl, but still doing well. You will notice that Luna is looking at me. She believes I gave birth to her, hung the moon, and that dogs are disgusting lower forms of life. She hangs on my every word, and if I utter the phrase "gobbledy-gook" she thinks that I say the most amazing things. They are treasures, everyone. Tessa, Hannah Bear, 2Bit {Bitsy} Rascal and Luna. All are rescue dogs. I'll tell you Hannah's story soon.
