Carmella's story

I ran across Carmella and her owner's story as I was reading some fellow Etsy artist's blogs. Carmella was adopted from a shelter but was discovered to have distemper, which is basically a death sentence. Her owner has blogged about this from the start, and it is an educational journey, as well as a love story. Her devoted owner called and pleaded with many veterinarians to do a risky procedure that could save Carmella's life. Finally there was hope...     We had a pup that had distemper..My uncle, who was a doctor, put him to sleep..It was a painful experience, since I was so young..My poor uncle, I hit him and cried, but never forgot our little pup..Frosty.

    Carmella has had the procedure and is doing great and I hope that her story will help other dogs receive the treatment they need so that no dog needs to die directly or indirectly from Distemper.

    That must have been a gut-wrenching experience, rosebud. I have spoken with one or two other owners recently whose dogs met the same fate and they were devastated.

    I am so grateful that the right people came forward before it was too late to do this treatment and saved Carmella's life.

    I have been following this blog too and even suggested she add a donation widget to her blog, which she did, and I have donated that way. I'm so glad Carmella got the treatment she needed to save her life. She is such a sweet looking dog and she was a very caring and committed owner!

    That is sad- I am not going to read the story because I can't handle it right now- we just lost a 3 year old cat to diabetes and are still grieving her. Thank you for sharing though!

Belle Starr's Grave

" Well behaved women rarely make history." *** Her grave as it is today *** I made the trip to Eufaula Oklahoma a couple of weeks ago for a family get together. I was going to visit the grave site of Belle Starr on this trip, but read up on the burial location before going. The site is rather run down, on private property and on a dead end road. You have to rustle up the owners and tramp through an unkempt weedy trail. The original stone has been removed or is gone from what I understand, so I decided not to go. I find this disheartening, that a well known historical figure, albeit outlaw, from the old west does not have a more revered grave site. I think the sad fact is, most of the famous people we know from that time have also been left in obscure places and have faded away, forgotten. ***Her grave as it was originally*** Belle Starr was "The Bandit Queen," associated with Jesse James and the Youngers. My Little Adventure

   I took an actual vacation this year and traveled to Wyoming. I had never so much as driven to the panhandle of Oklahoma by myself , but I had no qualms, and jumped in a rental car with my cameras and went. The only thing I reserved, was a tour on the Pryor Mountains to see the wild horses.    I've never had so much fun in my life. I drove the Bear Tooth  and the Big Horn Mountain drives, saw the Tetons, Jackson Hole and a smidgeon of Yellowstone.   And of course the wild horses. Something I have wanted to do for years.                                                         The Tetons at sunset.                               Saw these buffalo in Meeteetse, the photo below was taken in Cody.    I met several interesting women while I was there and enjoyed hearing their stories and talking with them. I spent most of my time just driving the country and looking for wildlife and taking photos. It was an amazing journey.
